Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role for an Associate Designer located in New York, NY
. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented designer with a strong foundation in women’s apparel, particularly in sweaters. The Associate Designer will support the Senior Designer across all stages of the design process—from concept development and CAD creation to sample tracking and final production handoff.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about design, with a strong eye for color, proportion, and fabric.
Responsibilities- Create Technical Packs (TPs) from start to finish
- Create and update CAD sketches, line sheets, and presentation boards.
- Design and develop seasonal women’s sweater collections, with additional support across cut & sew categories.
- Maintain seasonal line sheets, presentation boards, yarn libraries, knit-downs, trims, and development samples.
- Create detailed CADs and technical packages from concept through production handoff.
- Develop sweater concepts including stitch structures, gauges, yarn qualities, patterns, colorways, and design details.
- Research seasonal sweater trends, yarn developments, stitches, textures, silhouettes, and color direction.
- Work closely with overseas vendors/factories on yarn, knit-down, sample, and development requests.
- Review development samples and participate in fittings, communicating design comments and revisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in women’s apparel design, with demonstrated experience in sweater/knitwear design and development.
- Strong knowledge of yarns, knit structures, stitches, gauges, sweater construction, and garment development.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
, Photoshop
, and Microsoft Office
. - Working knowledge of Tech Pack creation and garment construction.
- Excellent sense of color, proportion, and fabric/yarn qualities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, and work in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Highly attentive to detail and organized.
(This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this NY-based position. The final salary will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, and internal equity.)
