Technical Designer - Casual Sleep

We are seeking an experienced Technical Designer to support the Casual Sleep category on a temporary basis. This individual contributor will own key aspects of the technical design process from development through final fit, ensuring garments meet established standards for fit, comfort, quality, design intent, manufacturability, and cost
.

The ideal candidate has a career foundation primarily in technical design
, with strong pattern making and garment construction expertise across knits and wovens
. This person should be comfortable independently conducting fittings, evaluating garment fit, writing detailed fit comments, recommending pattern corrections, and communicating technical direction to vendors and factories.

This role is best suited for a hands-on Technical Designer with approximately 5-10 years of relevant experience who is comfortable owning a product category while continuing to work under the direction of Technical Design management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute the technical design process from initial development through final fit and approval for the Casual Sleep category.
  • Independently own assigned styles/product areas and conduct garment fittings
    .
  • Analyze garments for fit, balance, proportion, construction, comfort, and overall quality.
  • Develop, review, and maintain accurate technical specifications and measurement standards
    .
  • Write clear and actionable fit comments, construction comments, and pattern corrections
    .
  • Apply strong pattern making knowledge to identify fit issues and recommend appropriate pattern adjustments.
  • Work with both knit and woven garments
    , understanding how fabrication and construction affect fit and performance.
  • Partner closely with Design to maintain design intent while ensuring products meet established fit, comfort, and quality standards.
  • Communicate fit approvals, corrections, and technical requirements to vendors and factories.
  • Review prototypes and samples and make appropriate adjustments throughout the development process.
  • Maintain accurate style, fit, and technical information within Centric PLM or comparable PLM platforms.
  • Attend cross-functional meetings and identify technical design takeaways, action items, and required follow-up.
  • Work efficiently across multiple styles and priorities in a fast-paced product development environment
    .
  • Proactively identify technical challenges and recommend practical solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Pattern making, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Technical Design experience; approximately 5-10 years preferred.
  • Professional experience should be primarily concentrated in technical design, fit, garment construction, and/or pattern making
    .
  • Strong pattern making and pattern correction experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with both knits and wovens
    .
  • Experience independently conducting fit sessions/fittings
    .
  • Ability to evaluate garments and produce detailed, technically accurate fit comments and pattern corrections
    .
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, specifications, measurements, grading, fit, and quality standards.
  • Experience with PLM systems;
    Centric PLM strongly preferred

    .
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator
    .
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with sleepwear, casual sleep, intimates, or closely related apparel categories
    .
  • Plus-size technical design or fitting experience.
  • Experience with Centric, FlexPLM, or similar product lifecycle management systems
    .
  • Senior-level Technical Designer experience is welcome, provided the candidate remains comfortable in a hands-on individual contributor role reporting to a manager
    .
  • Experience independently owning a category or product area from development through fit approval.
