PositionSummary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Technical Designer to join our Technical Design team, supporting DKNY Sportswear
. This role assists throughout the technical design product lifecycle, from pre-fitting through production fit approval. The Assistant Technical Designer supports fittings with live fit models, assesses garments, documents fit corrections, and communicates updates to overseas teams and factories. This role also partners closely with the Technical Designer to create comprehensive initial technical packages and final full graded specifications.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in technical design and/or pattern making, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, SKU-intensive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the technical design product lifecycle from pre-fitting through production fit approval
- Support fittings with live fit models by measuring garments, taking detailed fitting notes, editing comments, documenting fit corrections, and communicating updates to overseas teams and factories
- Partner with the Technical Designer to create comprehensive initial technical packages and final full graded specifications
- Work under the guidance of the Technical Designer to execute necessary fit corrections, using diagrams and garment patterns effectively to achieve the desired fit, silhouette, and style
- Facilitate communication with overseas offices and vendors to identify and resolve garment construction and production issues
- Meet with the Production team weekly to review sample approval status and support compliance with the Time and Action Calendar
- Interact regularly with agents, overseas offices, and vendors to help problem-solve garment engineering issues throughout the product lifecycle
- Maintain accurate and detailed technical documentation throughout the development and production process

- College degree or equivalent professional work experience required
- 0–2 years of Technical Design and/or Pattern making experience working with a live fit model in a SKU-intensive environment required
- Proficiency with Gerber Yunique PLM or equivalent, WebPDM, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of garment construction, fit, specifications, and pattern making
- Strong project management and multitasking skills with critical attention to detail
- Confident and engaging verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with cross-functional departments, vendors, agents, and overseas offices
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities

The pay range for this position is: $26.44 per hour/$55,000 per year – $28.85 per hour/$60,000 per year
. Annualized salary is based on a 40-hour work week.
