Location: New York

Sunrise Brands, LLC is seeking a creative, self-motivated, and highly detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join the RTW Design team supporting the RM Rebecca Minkoff and DG2 brands.

The ideal candidate is a passionate and collaborative designer with a strong understanding of apparel design and development, excellent technical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role will report to the Sr. Design Director and work closely with the Design team and cross-functional partners throughout the product development process, from initial concept and research through sampling and final approvals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create accurate and detailed flat sketches and garment construction details using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Support the design and development process from initial concept through final product.
  • Log, track, and communicate design comments for all development submissions, including L/Ds, S/Os, fabrics, embellishments, and other samples.
  • Create and maintain accurate Tech Packs in Web PLM (Centric).
  • Maintain organized records, binders, and development resources for fabrics, samples, trims, and other design materials.
  • Participate in fittings by recording detailed comments, photographing samples, and communicating revisions to factories and vendors.
  • Maintain consistent day-to-day communication with factories and vendors to ensure development stays on schedule.
  • Assist the Design team with communication and follow-up regarding product development, samples, and approvals.
  • Review L/Ds, S/Os, embellishments, and other development submissions for design intent and accuracy.
  • Research new fabrics, materials, and design techniques, including embroidery, finishes, washes, and other embellishment techniques.
  • Research seasonal inspiration, trends, silhouettes, color, fabrication, and relevant market direction to support collection development.
  • Regularly conduct market research to identify new product opportunities, emerging trends, competitive pricing, and commercially relevant ideas.
  • Help with preparing and maintaining the trend, concept, and mood boards
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Production, and overseas factories throughout the development process.
  • Receive, check-in, organize, maintain and file all samples made by the RTW Design team.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
Qualifications
  • Recent graduate of a fashion design program or approximately 2 years of relevant apparel design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is required.
  • Excellent flat sketching and technical drawing skills.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and apparel development.
  • Experience designing and developing both knit and woven apparel.
  • Familiarity with the complete fashion design and product development cycle, including trend research and forecasting.
  • Experience with Web PLM (Centric) is a plus.
  • Strong visual and creative sensibility with an understanding of brand aesthetics and the ability to translate trends into commercially relevant product.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Location & Schedule

This position is full-time and based in our New York City office. The role requires working in-office Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
