Packaging Designer - Pet Products

G Mason Group is a prominent player in the pet industry, dedicated to creating innovative and high-quality pet products that enhance the lives of pets and their owners. We specialize in designing and developing private label and licensed pet products for leading retailers and brands.

We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Packaging Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for a designer who understands how strong packaging combines great design, clear communication, brand storytelling, and retail impact. The ideal candidate will have experience working across licensed and private label products and be comfortable incorporating AI-powered creative tools into their design workflow.

As a Packaging Designer at G Mason Group, you will play a key role in developing compelling packaging solutions across our portfolio of pet products. You will work on both licensed and private label programs
, translating brand guidelines, product features, and retailer requirements into packaging that is visually engaging, commercially effective, and production-ready.

You will collaborate closely with product development, sales, licensing, and production teams to take projects from initial concept through final production.

• Packaging Design: Conceptualize and design packaging for a wide range of pet products, including toys, grooming products, accessories, feeding products, treats, and other pet goods.
• Licensed & Private Label Programs: Develop packaging for both licensed brands and private label programs while maintaining brand consistency, following licensor guidelines, and meeting retailer-specific requirements.
• Concept Development: Translate creative briefs, trends, brand direction, and product features into compelling packaging concepts that stand out both on shelf and online.
• Copywriting: Develop clear, persuasive, and engaging product copy that communicates key features, benefits, and product stories to consumers.
• Brand Consistency: Ensure packaging accurately reflects established brand identities, style guides, and visual standards across multiple product categories and SKUs.
• AI-Enhanced Creative Workflow: Utilize AI-powered creative tools where appropriate for ideation, concept exploration, image generation, copy development, research, visualization, and improving overall design efficiency.
• Market & Trend Research: Stay current on packaging trends, competitor activity, consumer preferences, retail trends, and developments within the pet and consumer products industries.
• Dieline Creation: Create, modify, and prepare accurate dielines, layouts, and production-ready artwork for various packaging formats.
• Production & Prepress: Prepare final artwork for production while considering printing processes, materials, finishes, color accuracy, and manufacturing requirements.
• Quality Assurance: Review packaging proofs, samples, and prototypes to ensure design accuracy, brand consistency, copy accuracy, and overall production quality.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product development, sales, licensing, marketing, and production teams to successfully move projects from concept through final production.
• Project Management: Manage multiple packaging projects and SKUs simultaneously while maintaining organization, accuracy, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in packaging design
  , preferably within consumer products, retail, pet products, or a related industry.
• Strong experience designing licensed and private label packaging
  , with an understanding of brand guidelines, licensor requirements, approvals, and retailer standards.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  , particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Working knowledge of AI-powered creative tools and workflows
  , with the ability to use AI effectively for concept development, ideation, image generation, copy development, research, and design efficiencies.
• Strong typography, layout, composition, and visual storytelling skills.
• Experience creating and working with packaging dielines and production-ready artwork.
• Knowledge of printing processes, packaging materials, finishes, color management, and production requirements.
• Strong copywriting and communication skills.
• Understanding of sustainability principles and evolving trends in packaging design.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy across large numbers of SKUs.
