We're hiring a Freelance Associate Technical Designer for knits to join a NYC fashion team supporting product development from concept through production. As a Technical Designer, you will play a key role in ensuring consistent fit standards, evaluating garment construction, facilitating fit sessions, and communicating product updates with internal teams and vendors throughout the development process.
Hourly pay rate is $31.00
Responsibilities- Evaluate proto, fit, and production samples to ensure measurement accuracy, fit, quality, and construction standards are met
- Lead and facilitate garment fit sessions
- Partner closely with Design and Production teams to achieve desired fit and aesthetic goals
- Communicate fit comments, pattern corrections, and construction revisions to vendors
- Represent company standards for fit consistency and garment construction
- Create and maintain fit reports, sample tracking documents, and development records
- Track sample status and ensure timely communication throughout the product lifecycle
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external partners to support product development milestones
- Participate in in-person fittings, approvals, and product development meetings as business needs require
- Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-3+ years of Technical Design experience within apparel or fashion
- Strong pattern making skills required
- Knits experience preferred
- Thorough understanding of garment construction, fit, and product development processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across Design, Production, Merchandising, and Vendor teams
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
