PROJECT TECHNICAL DESIGNER

We’re looking for a passionate technical designer who thrives in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative studio environment — and brings energy, curiosity, and creativity to every phase of the design process. At Vocon you won’t just design—you’ll engage. Our team works directly with clients, consultants, and contractors, gaining hands‑on exposure from concept to completion. In the Real Estate team, you’ll help transform spaces through building repositioning projects, including dynamic lobby renovations, thoughtfully designed business‑ready suites, prebuilds, and innovative amenity spaces.

Overview

As a mid‑level design professional, you will contribute to project delivery across multiple phases, including design development and technical execution. This role requires a strong foundation in architecture and interior design and the ability to work independently on small‑to‑medium‑scale projects or to support larger initiatives under senior leadership. You will be responsible for design documentation, consultant coordination, and project execution, ensuring high‑quality outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and own the technical execution of small and medium‑sized projects of limited complexity.
  • Collaborate regularly with design and management leaders to execute the project, coordinate resources, and integrate inputs from inception to completion.
  • Act as a leading member of the project team in all aspects of project scope—informing the work plan, supporting design, complying with jurisdictional requirements, producing documentation, overseeing construction administration services, and coordinating with outside consultants.
  • Handle specific technical design aspects of assigned projects, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions.
  • Ensure that construction documents align with design intent.
  • Conduct code analyses and serve as point of contact with jurisdictions.
  • Perform submittal reviews during construction, maintaining RFI and submittal logs.
  • Assist in managing client expectations.
  • Coordinate communication between the project team, subcontractors, and other disciplines.
  • Conduct on‑site observations and prepare architect’s field reports.
  • Coordinate document coordination and design detailing.
  • Manage project teams and assign tasks to complete interior design and/or architectural projects.
  • Apply advanced techniques and modify or extend theories, precepts, and practices.
  • Use judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Capabilities
  • Fundamental competency in fulfilling key responsibilities for the Project Technical Designer role.
  • Specialized strength in technical execution, comprehensive knowledge of the full design process, and competence in conventional interior design and/or architecture.
  • Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or manage multiple concurrent projects at various stages.
  • Ability to communicate technical and integration issues and direction quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of management and staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience in all phases of interior design, architecture and engineering, including substantial, varied experience in project planning.
  • Experience through strategic planning and programming to construction and post‑occupancy phases.
  • Experience in construction document preparation and field operations.
  • Knowledge of building materials, building codes, specifications, construction techniques, interior and/or architectural detailing.
  • Knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, zoning, and general jurisdictional processes.
  • Sufficient knowledge of engineering disciplines to coordinate work.
  • Competent in business…
