We are seeking a creative and organized Associate Designer to join a fast-paced design team. This individual will support the design and development process from initial concept through final product execution. The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about creating commercially relevant product.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design and development of seasonal apparel collections.
- Conduct trend, market, and competitive research to identify product opportunities.
- Create inspiration boards, color palettes, presentations, and seasonal concepts.
- Develop sketches, technical flats, and design documentation.
- Prepare design packages and communicate product information to internal teams and external partners.
- Partner with cross-functional teams throughout the product development and sample process.
- Review samples and assist with revisions to maintain design intent.
- Attend fittings and support design comments and approvals.
- Maintain accurate design files, line plans, and development documentation.
- Assist with presentations and other design-related projects as needed.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines within the seasonal development calendar.
- Experience in women’s apparel design, with a strong contemporary fashion taste level and commercial eye.
- Experience supporting or designing product for off-price and/or licensed apparel businesses.
- Strong understanding of seasonal development calendars and deadlines, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong sketching and technical drawing skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, including the ability to create initial design specifications and detailed technical flats.
- Experience creating and maintaining tech packs, including garment details, construction information, fabrications, trims, and other product specifications.
- Working knowledge of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and the information required for product development and production.
- Understanding of the product development process from initial concept through sample review and production.
