Position SummaryWe are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Assistant Designer to join our New York team. In this role, you will support the Senior Designer and VP of Design across the full lifecycle of sweater design and development from seasonal concept research and yarn selection to showroom preparation and overseas factory coordination. This position offers hand‑on mentorship and exposure to the fashion industry.

- Closely work directly with Senior Designer, under the direction of the VP of Design, to manage the daily workload.
- Support the design team in researching seasonal trends, color palettes, silhouettes, yarns, and trims across diverse retail markets.
- Create original artwork, stitch layouts, and detailed CAD renderings/recolors using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. (Experience with Procreate is a plus.)
- Prepare development request packages, sketches, and specifications for overseas factory sample requests.
- Participate in fit sessions and design reviews, taking detailed notes to communicate precise sample revisions to overseas partners.
- Organize and prepare the NY showroom for buyer meetings, including sample setup, digital presentations, and calendar scheduling.
- Maintain seasonal style books, fabric/yarn/trim libraries, the digital sample archive, and design closet.
- Coordinate sample shipments and manage incoming design packages.
- Support communication with retail buyers and collaborate cross-functionally with internal design, production, and overseas teams.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field. - Experience:
0–2 years in apparel design or showroom support (knitwear/sweater experience is a plus). - Technical
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. - Industry Eye:
Strong aesthetic sense with an ability to design across multiple brand identities, age tiers, and price points. - Communication & Execution:
Excellent verbal/written communication skills with strong attention to detail, construction, and follow-through. - Mindset:
Proactive, organized, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
