Kamen Tall Architects PC (KTA) is a multifaceted firm specializing in restoration, historic preservation, and design for existing buildings.

Our practice specializes in maintaining, restoring, and adaptive reuse of structures. KTA's portfolio spans New York City and National Register landmarks, standard building repairs, interior space planning, and residential design.

KTA is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Architectural Project Manager (5-7 years of experience) to oversee a variety of projects in the fields of building restoration, facade repair, and adaptive reuse. This role requires a strong foundation in architecture or engineering, extensive construction administration and inspection experience. The Project Manager drives the entire project lifecycle while managing client relationships, budgets, timelines, and project teams.

Responsibilities include preparation of architectural plans, specifications, reports, and drawings for restoration and alteration projects. This position requires a high level of autonomy, and collaboration with senior leadership to ensure the successful execution of complex architectural projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership & Execution:
    Lead all aspects of architectural projects, including project timelines, budgets, and quality control. Ensure that every phase, from schematic design to construction, runs smoothly and meets the firm’s standards.
  • Client Management:
    Foster strong, professional relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders. Accurately manage expectations and day-to-day project supervision.

    Ensure client satisfaction.
  • Project Management:
    Take a comprehensive approach to each project, ensuring that all technical, financial, and logistical aspects are integrated. Anticipate and respond to field conditions, proactively managing unforeseen challenges.
  • Deep knowledge and passion for restoration and façade repair is required.

    Oversee the technical and creative aspects of projects. Manage custom construction detailing to preserve historical integrity while incorporating modern functionality.
  • Collaboration & Coordination:
    Work closely with a team of architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals. Collaborate with senior project managers and assistant project managers to ensure all project milestones adhere to the firm’s quality standards.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Prepare and review construction documents, identify project needs, prepare estimates, and coordinate site inspections. Ensure clear, direct communication between all project stakeholders. Demonstrate advanced field sketching abilities for site observations. Prepare clear and organized technical reports.
  • Field Supervision & Inspections:
    Regularly visit construction sites to ensure work is progressing as planned, conduct scaffold inspections, and perform quality control checks. Address field conditions or issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Business Development & Marketing:
    Assist in business development activities. Contribute to proposals, presentations, and marketing materials. Participate in meetings with clients and industry organizations, support efforts to expand the firm’s portfolio of work.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship:
    Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to junior staff to enhance their professional growth.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure all necessary regulatory filings are completed with NYC DOB, LPC, and other relevant agencies. Stay up to date with changes in building codes, standards, and local regulations that affect the project.
Required Qualifications:

    Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in architectural project management, with a strong background in restoration, façade repair, or adaptive reuse projects.
