About Our ClientWe have partnered with a premier architectural woodworking and custom millwork firm known for delivering high-end commercial and residential packages. From complex custom joinery to large-scale architectural wood installations, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team and lead custom projects from shop drawings to final installation.
Position SummaryThe Millwork Project Manager will lead custom millwork projects through the entire project lifecycle: engineering/drafting review, shop fabrication, finishing, delivery, and job site installation. This position requires deep, hands-on experience in the architectural woodworking industry, including direct knowledge of wood species, AWI standards, custom fabrication techniques, hardware, and job site coordination.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables from initial handoff through final punch list completion.
- Review architectural blueprints, submittals, and shop drawings. Partner directly with internal engineering and shop leads to resolve structural/design details before production.
- Track labor and material costs against schedule of values, process scope revisions, and issue timely change orders.
- Coordinate sourcing for custom veneers, solid woods, specialty hardware, stone, metal, and integrated third-party materials.
- Serve as the main point of contact for General Contractors, architects, designers, and site superintendents. Conduct site visits, take field measurements, and coordinate installation crews.
- 5+ years of dedicated Project Management experience specifically within an architectural woodworking, custom construction, or commercial millwork firm (non-woodworking/construction PM experience will not be considered).
- Strong understanding of millwork fabrication techniques, AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) standards, wood finishes, veneer matching, and hardware systems.
- High proficiency in reading complex architectural drawings, structural plans, and technical shop drawings (CAD, Cabinet Vision, or similar).
- Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar millwork ERP tools).
- Competitive base salary: $95 - 150k, commensurate with experience
