Blair + Mui Dowd Architects is a medium-sized architectural firm in New York City specializing in programming, planning, and design of clinical, educational, research, and community facilities. Areas of expertise include new construction, vertical expansion, occupied renovation, and adaptive reuse on a variety of scales.
We are currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic Junior Designer with 2+ years experience in commercial and/or institutional design to join our team. Healthcare, laboratory, and education experience a plus. The candidate will work with a team on a range of projects from master planning to complex healthcare and laboratory projects for nationally recognized Institutions.
Position Responsibilities- Collaborate with a team of designers in all phases of small, medium, and large-scale projects, under the direction of a Project Manager or Principal
- Research and develop architectural design concepts that match the client and firm's aesthetic, functional goals, and budget
- Assisting the Project Manager or Principal in coordination with clients and running project meetings
- Design and develop presentation drawings, construction documents, and all project related materials including administrative responsibilities
- Field survey & existing condition documentation, as well as general construction observation and administration activities
- Strong interest in architecture and belief in environmental responsibility; LEED Accreditation a plus
- Minimum of 2 years experience in all phases of design and construction
- BArch or MArch degree from an Accredited Architecture program or foreign equivalent
- Strong organizational abilities & ability to effectively handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Graphic skills and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, sketching.
- Experience with building code and zoning analysis a plus
- Rendering and visualization skills a plus
- Legal working status in the U.S
