The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Senior Space Planner provides vital space planning and pre-design expertise to structure and manage the
programming and physical planning of capital construction projects to meet University space needs.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Facilities Planning, the Senior Space Planner will interface with academic and administrative stakeholders at all levels to develop programming and space planning scenarios for a broad range of capital and strategic planning initiatives ranging from new buildings to modest office renovations.

• Structures and manages the programming and planning of space planning studies and pre-design projects for capital construction projects that meet University space needs. Projects can range from large scale strategic planning studies involving multiple locations to individual office or science laboratory renovations
• Responsible for day to day client interaction, communication and interfacing with academic and administrative stakeholders at all levels including Deans, Department Chairs, Faculty and administrators required for the definition of and ongoing management of Planning studies, and other related duties as required
• Responsible for preparing, reviewing and issuing programming and space planning deliverables in graphic and quantitative formats, including tasks such as data gathering, conducting client interviews, producing conceptual and pre-schematic floor plans, options and other documents for review and decision making
• Works with Facilities staff members and outside consultants including architects, engineers, and vendors to determine workflow, deliverables and deadlines for planning studies. Evaluates and makes recommendations to meet the changing needs of planning studies and provides value-added input to address challenges and constraints for the delivery of capital projects
• Contributes to the concept and graphic development, management and implementation of graphic standards for planning studies and other deliverables
• Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4-6 years of related experience required.
• A bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Planning, Interior Design, or related field and at least four years of practical experience.
• Previous experience in a University or similar institutional environment and experience with a broad range of project types including science lab planning and space programming. Administrative space planning is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, including the ability to build trust and understanding with clients.
• Ability to partner closely with colleagues in a strong team environment and have a proactive approach toward work products.
• Ability to negotiate and balance the expectations and priorities of demanding constituencies while keeping the University's priorities in view.
• Extensive computer experience in CAD software packages, database, spreadsheet, and word processing software is required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills as well as creativity, attention to detail, and analytical skills are required.

• Advanced degree desirable.
• A master’s degree in Architecture or Planning is preferred.
