This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented candidate to join a small, prestigious New York firm offering a full spectrum of architecture and interior design services. The practice is active in residential and commercial work, with an emphasis on context and program.

We are looking for a part-time draftsperson.

This is an in-office position in New York City, with possible site visits as necessary throughout the greater NYC area. Compensation is hourly, on a flexible, demand-based schedule with a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Current projects involve new construction, major renovation, and interior design, along with curatorial services and connoisseurship in the fine and decorative arts. Because of the nature of our studio, the successful candidate will be closely involved in the full scope of the realization of projects rather than performing a narrowly compartmentalized role. This offers real insight into how projects develop and resolve, and the opportunity to develop skills demanded of successful practitioners in the design world.

A Bachelor of Architecture is required, though other design degrees will be considered. Prior experience in architecture is preferred, though creativity and technical merit will also be weighed. Please note that our most active commissions require the signing of a non-disclosure agreement, along with submission of professional, academic, if appropriate, and personal references.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce fully detailed drawings for inclusion in design documents
• Draft schematic designs and prepare accurate revisions
• Survey existing construction conditions
• Correspond with outside collaborators, contractors, and clients

Skills &

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Architecture, other design degrees considered
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD as a primary drafting tool, including layer management, xrefs, sheet sets, and dimensioning standards for construction documents
• Ability to coordinate new design, building information, and interior detailing in drawn format
• Ability to quickly and accurately translate sketches, markups, and revisions into finished architectural drawings
• Working knowledge of Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office
• Proficiency with Google Suite, Drive, and Google Docs/Sheets
• Clear, communicative freehand drawing ability
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Systematic and organized, with the ability to independently manage priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred, though not required:

• Experience with Rhino and V-Ray, or comparable modeling software
• Experience developing or reviewing millwork/shop drawings and construction documents
• Strong knowledge of art history and contemporary art
