Sweater Designer

We are an established fashion company with more than 30 years in the industry, seeking a talented and highly motivated Sweater Designer to join our design team.

This is a hands-on position for someone who has a strong eye for fashion and a genuine interest in sweater and knitwear design. The ideal candidate combines creativity with technical understanding and is comfortable working through the complete development process, from initial concept and yarn/stitch development to tech packs, fittings, sampling, and production.

We are open to both Entry-Level and Mid-Level candidates. For an emerging designer, this is an excellent opportunity to develop strong technical sweater knowledge and gain exposure to the complete product lifecycle. For a more experienced designer, the role offers greater ownership, independence, and opportunity for continued growth within the company.

• Work closely with the Head Designer throughout the complete design and development process, from initial concept through production
• Research seasonal trends, colors, yarns, stitches, silhouettes, and market direction
• Create accurate and detailed CADs and flat sketches using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive tech packs, including construction details, measurements, stitch information, and design specifications
• Assist with yarn, stitch, gauge, color, and trim development
• Demonstrate an understanding of sweater construction, gauges, yarns, stitches, fit, and measurements
• Prepare and maintain sample specifications and design/development records
• Track development samples and follow up on comments, corrections, revisions, and approvals
• Participate in fittings and communicate clear corrections while maintaining the original design intent
• Work cross-functionally with Design, Technical Design, Production, and other teams to keep development on schedule
• Review samples for accuracy, quality, construction, proportion, color, and overall appearance
• Help identify and resolve design and production issues throughout the development process

• Degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong fashion sense with an excellent eye for color, proportion, silhouette, texture, and detail
• Understanding of garment construction, measurements, and fit
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines simultaneously
• Excellent communication and follow-up skills
• Highly detail-oriented and committed to accuracy and quality
• Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative attitude with a willingness to learn, contribute, and take ownership
• Knowledge of AI-assisted design tools and emerging creative technologies is a plus

Candidates should have professional experience in sweater or knitwear design and development, with a solid understanding of technical sweater construction, yarns, gauges, stitches, fit, and measurements. You should be comfortable managing tech packs and sample development with minimal supervision, communicating corrections clearly, and proactively identifying and resolving development or production issues.
