Technical Designer - Woman's Athletic Apparel

Our client is a fast-growing NYC-based apparel company specializing in women's active wear, athleisure, and lounge. The company works with recognized brands and major off-price retailers and department stores across the U.S.

The team moves quickly from concept to production and is looking for a Technical Designer who can bring strong technical expertise, fit knowledge, and attention to detail to a growing product organization.

This is a hands-on Technical Design role for someone who understands women's apparel construction and can manage the technical development process from initial sample through production.

You will work closely with Design, Production, Product Development, and overseas factories to ensure garments meet the intended fit, construction, measurements, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being close to the product, can identify and solve fit and construction issues, and is comfortable managing multiple styles in a fast-paced environment.

• Develop and maintain detailed tech packs, spec sheets, POMs, construction details, and grading
• Conduct and participate in fit sessions, evaluating fit, balance, proportion, and construction
• Measure samples and provide detailed fit comments and corrections
• Partner with Design to translate design concepts into production-ready garments
• Communicate directly with overseas factories and vendors on technical and fit issues
• Troubleshoot garment construction and production issues and drive solutions
• Ensure consistency of fit, grading, and sizing across styles
• Review samples through multiple stages of development and ensure corrections are executed accurately
• Track technical development timelines and follow up on outstanding items
• Maintain accurate specifications, fit history, comments, and approvals
• Provide technical guidance to Design and Product Development
• Make CAD and technical updates in Adobe Illustrator as needed

• 4+ years of Technical Design experience in women's apparel
• Experience with active wear, athleisure, performance, stretch, or knit apparel strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of fit, garment construction, pattern making, grading, and measurements
• Strong knowledge of stretch fabrics and active wear construction
• Experience creating and maintaining tech packs and detailed spec sheets
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
• PLM experience preferred
• Experience communicating with overseas factories/vendors
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Able to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor's degree in Technical Design, Fashion Design, or related field preferred
