MADE is a design/build company specializing in custom architectural design, construction management, and specialty fabrication. Founded in 2002, MADE believes in integrating the architect and the builder at every stage of the creative process. We focus primarily on private residential homes and custom commercial projects within New York City and the surrounding area. Located in a Civil War-era warehouse on the historic piers of Red Hook, Brooklyn, MADE’s workshop includes a vibrant design studio attached to a 7,500 sq ft shop.
We are looking for a thoughtful and self-motivated Design Production Assistant to join our team. The Design Production Assistant will work under the direction of the Director of Architecture to develop and maintain the firm’s design resources and workflow protocols, and also work with the firm’s Director of Operations on an as needed basis. The ideal candidate should have interest in the business and operational side of an architecture firm, but also appreciate the design and build processes of architecture.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture, industrial design, interior design, or related field
- New York State Driver’s License
- Adobe Creative Suite
- AutoCAD
- Rhino
- Google Suite
- Basic woodshop and model making experience
- Keen attention to detail and organization
- Strong interpersonal skills and disposition that is positive and professional
- Maintain materials library and inventory
- Organize completed projects’ resources and archive products/materials
- Edit photography and AutoCAD floor plans of completed projects in Adobe suite for firm’s website
- Update document templates in coordination with Director of Architecture and Principal
- Develop & organize ACAD block library, Rhino object library, and Vray materials library
- Coordinate with Build & Design Teams to develop issued document workflow protocols
- Point of contact for IT consultant / basic troubleshooting
- Help maintain Team Drive drive file structures
- Coordinate Plotter and Printer account management with project print codes and monthly billing
- Replenish printer supplies, check ink, order supplies
- Set up computers and install programs for new hires, archive accounts for departing staff
- Maintain Digital Technology User Guides
- Maintain Server Room and IT Supplies
- Coordinate software renewals
- Point person for laser-cutter
- Point person for 3D Printer
- Assist with samples, mockups and models as needed
- Assist on-site and in the Shop as needed
The ideal candidate must have good communication skills, be hands-on and open-minded, and have a desire to work in teams with multiple designers and builders.
This is a full-time, salaried position with full benefits including Health Insurance, 401(k), and PTO.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
