Architect / Sr. Architect, Environmental & Urban Planning

- Ricardo Zurita Architecture & Planning is a collaborative, award-winning firm with a focus on projects that enliven public life.
Our projects include ground-up and renovation of public-use buildings, as well as the design of public spaces. Our mission is to develop designs that are process-driven in collaboration with our clients and community stakeholders.
We are currently one of the firms selected by NYC DDC for the Project Excellence Program.
We are looking to add a critical team member to our small, collaborative practice. The ideal candidate has approximately 5-8 years of professional experience, preferably in NYC
, and is capable of taking substantial day-to-day responsibility for architectural projects while working closely with the firm Principal.
We are particularly interested in a self-starter who is comfortable working in a small-office environment, can independently move projects forward, and knows when to seek input on important design, technical, client, or project-management decisions.
The position offers an opportunity for significant responsibility and professional growth, with direct involvement in all phases of projects and close collaboration with the Principal.
Responsibilities shall include:- Design Development and Construction Documents
- Coordination of architectural drawings with structural, MEP and other consultants
- Preparation and coordination of specifications
- Construction administration, including review of submittals, RFIs and field conditions
- Managing project schedules and meeting deliverable deadlines
- Quality control of drawings and documents
- Participation in client and consultant meetings
- Coordination of agency submissions and approvals
- Day-to-day organization and follow-through on assigned projects
- Assisting in directing and coordinating junior staff when appropriate
- Bachelor's (5-year) or Master's Degree in Architecture
- Approximately 5-8 years of professional architectural experience
- Strong experience producing and coordinating Construction Documents
- Strong BIM and AutoCAD skills; knowledge of ArchiCAD a plus
- Good understanding of architectural detailing and building construction
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a small-office environment
- Fluent English-language writing and communication skills
- NYC project experience strongly preferred
- Experience with NYC public-agency projects, including DDC and/or SCA, a plus
- Construction administration experience strongly preferred
- Architecture license in NYS a plus, but not required
