Job Description
  • Transition inpatients to the clinic by seeing them within one week of hospital discharge and continuing the plan of care developed on the inpatient service (including follow‑up of lab tests and procedures).
  • Provide new patient medical evaluations and ordering of initial laboratory tests.
  • Order pertinent diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Provide scheduled medical care to attending physician's patients unable to see their PCP (due to vacations, hospitalist month, etc.).
  • Provide cross‑coverage for other PA's as needed.
  • Provide medication refills to patients throughout the clinic as needed.
  • Complete appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered in the medical record.
  • Communicate with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
  • Provide follow‑up and health maintenance care including the appropriate adjustment of medications in accordance with established protocols or in response to specific instructions from the Attending Physician.
  • Consult with colleagues, supervising physicians, specialists, and other health professionals as appropriate.
  • Provide medical care for patients in the chronic disease collaborative.
  • Provide medical care for patients in the Coumadin Clinic.
  • Provide medical care for pre‑operative patients needing medical clearance.
  • Review results of all labs/studies ordered.
  • Complete all related duties as assigned.
  • Work 2 days and 2 nights, preferring PA's with at least 1 year of emergency medicine or critical care experience. After onboarding, PAs work a mix of fast‑track independent care and direct pairing with an attending in our core ED. Nights and weekends are required but distributed among the pool and we are flexible on shift lengths of 8, 10, or 12‑hour shifts.
Minimum Qualifications

1. Current New York State registration as a Physician Assistant; or
2. Current limited permit issued by New York State to practice as a Physician Assistant.
