Job DescriptionThe Bellevue Stroke Team manages patients admitted with acute strokes to the inpatient stroke service and also manages stroke codes throughout the hospital and in the Emergency Department. Along with NYU neurology residents, you will be the primary provider for patients admitted to the stroke service as well as responsible for sharing in the management of stroke codes throughout the hospital.
This position is comprised of three, 12.5 hour shifts per week including day, night, weekend, and holiday coverage.
- Perform history and physical examinations and complete admission notes
- Formulate a diagnosis and develop a care plan with the patient and the treatment team
- Request and coordinate consultations
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and pharmacologic interventions
- Educate and counsel patients, caregivers, and their families.
- Participate in the care of acute stroke patients, including the emergency treatment of acute stroke patients during stroke codes in the ED and throughout the hospital
- Participate in multidisciplinary collaboration with other subspecialties such as neurointerventional radiology, neurosurgery, neurolcu
- Manage patients admitted to the stroke service
- Perform procedures including venipuncture, placement of intravenous lines, and nasogastric tube, arterial
- Maintain active ACLS/BLS certification and complete annual 8‑hour stroke CME requirements
- Current New York State registration as a Physician Assistant
- Current limited permit issued by New York State to practice as a Physician Assistant
