Base pay range: $/yr – $/yr.
DutiesPsychiatrists provide comprehensive psychiatric treatment services, including diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and integrated care to promote mental and physical health. They serve as primary prescribers and oversee psychopharmacology. Assistant psychiatrists assist under supervision. Psychiatrist 1 diagnoses and treats under higher-level psychiatrist supervision. Psychiatrist 2 independently diagnoses, treats, prescribes, supervises lower-level staff, and may manage care for a facility or program.
Minimum Qualifications- License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State.
- Certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
- For candidates outside State Service:
Eligibility for Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program. - For candidates within State Service:
One year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
