About Principium Psychiatry

Principium Psychiatry is a physician-led, New York–based psychiatric practice built around a simple principle: psychiatry should be practiced with depth, rigor, and professionalism — not speed or volume.

Our Manhattan practice serves a high-functioning, clinically complex adult patient population and is intentionally designed for psychiatrists who value diagnostic clarity, longitudinal care, and thoughtful clinical judgment.

We are selective by design. We do not operate high-volume medication-management models. We do not optimize for throughput at the expense of clinical depth. We do not compromise standards to chase volume.

This is a practice built for psychiatrists who want to practice serious outpatient psychiatry well.

The Role

We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible adult psychiatrist to join our Manhattan team. This is a full-time, in-person role based in Midtown Manhattan.

This role is ideal for a psychiatrist who wants adequate time per patient, enjoys working with high-functioning but psychologically complex adults, is comfortable exercising clinical authority and judgment, and values continuity, professionalism, and depth over speed.

This is a long-term clinical role within a stable, growing Manhattan practice — not a temporary, bridge, or exploratory position.

• Adult outpatient psychiatry
• Complex mood, anxiety, trauma-related, bipolar-spectrum, and personality-structure presentations
• Longitudinal treatment with meaningful follow-up
• Collaboration with psychotherapy and interventional psychiatry services (ketamine, TMS; optional)
• No inpatient coverage
• No call

• Psychiatry Practiced with Time and Judgment:
  Longer appointment times, manageable daily patient volumes, clinical judgment respected and supported, and no pressure to rush visits or oversimplify care.
• Strong, Reliable Infrastructure:
  Full administrative, billing, and scheduling support; organized intake and triage; experienced operations team; modern EMR and dependable clinical workflows.
• Transparent, Competitive Compensation:
  Base compensation with productivity-based upside. Target total compensation: $243,500 – $287,800. Additional upside for interventional psychiatry involvement or expanded clinical scope. Compensation is designed to reward quality, consistency, and responsibility — not churn.

  You will work alongside psychiatrists and clinicians who take their work seriously. This is a professional, non-transactional clinical environment.

• Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry
• Eligible for New York licensure (active NY license preferred)
• Comfortable treating complex outpatient psychiatric presentations
• Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and professional confidence
• Interested in a stable, long-term Midtown Manhattan practice

• Not a high-volume medication-management role
• Not a production-at-all-costs model
• Not a short-term, transitional, or exploratory position
• Not a narrowly scoped or low-engagement outpatient role
• This is a full-time, in-person clinical role. Psychiatrists in this position are expected to devote their professional clinical practice exclusively to Principium Psychiatry. Outside clinical practices or concurrent private practices are not compatible with this role.
