BACKGROUND:
New York Bariatric Group (NYBG), the largest bariatric practice in the country, is expanding its clinical platform by launching a new orthopedic service line. With a high volume of cross-referrals, a robust tristate ASC network, and a powerful direct-to-consumer marketing engine, NYBG offers a unique opportunity for a motivated, entrepreneurial orthopedic surgeon to build and lead this new initiative.
In addition, NYBG has exclusive direct-to-employer relationships through which self-insured employers refer bariatric patients directly to our practices and ASCs across the region. We believe there is a significant opportunity to extend these partnerships to orthopedic procedures, especially total joint replacements. This position offers a rare chance to join a high-growth platform and help shape a new clinical vertical from the ground up.

Compensation for this position starts at $275,000 but ranges depending on experience.
Responsibilities- Evaluate patients through medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests (X-rays, MRIs, CT scans).
- Diagnose musculoskeletal conditions such as fractures, arthritis, joint disorders, and sports injuries.
- Perform surgical procedures including joint replacements, arthroscopy, fracture repairs, and soft tissue reconstruction.
- Provide non-surgical treatments such as medication management, physical therapy referrals, and orthopedic devices (braces, casts).
- Monitor post-operative progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, recovery, and prevention.
- Collaborate with Mid-Level Practitioners, Behavioral Health, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Pulmonary, and nutritional departments adhering to care model for patients
- Assist patients in postoperative care in both hospital and office settings
- Provide support, including call coverage, to the orthopedic surgery program
Education, Licensure or Certification:
· Degree of Doctor of Medicine
· Completion of an orthopedic surgery residency; joint replacement fellowship preferred
· Licensed in NY or NJ.
· Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
Work Experience or Related Experience:
· Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels
· Strong clinical background and business acumen
· Prior experience in an ASC strongly preferred, particularly with same day total joint cases
· Interest or experience in working with patients who are overweight/obese patients
