Pediatrician - Health Equity Adolescents Legal System; HEAL - Per Diem

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) has an opportunity for a per diem Pediatrician — Health Equity for Adolescents in the Legal System (HEAL) with the Administration for Children's Services (ACS). The HEAL Program is a new NYC Health + Hospitals initiative to transition into being the primary provider of medical services to young people in City custody. The staff will be responsible for 24/7 medical care across two secure detention sites, two school-based health centers, and limited pharmacy services at seven non-secure sites (group homes).

Services include comprehensive medical screenings, dental screenings and procedures, vaccinations and routine testing, responses to immediate need, and referrals for offsite care within and outside the NYC Health + Hospitals system.

• Coverage:
  Day, Overnight, Weekend
• Provide medical care to ACS adolescents, ensuring safety and security
• Take relevant patient history, identify patient needs, and make diagnoses
• Develop and implement treatment plans using diagnostic data
• Perform complete well-care examinations, including physical examinations
• Perform complete gynecological histories and physical examinations
• Prescribe and counsel on medications; obtain parent/guardian consents as needed
• Complete medical forms and documentation related to patient care
• Make and track all referrals to other agencies and providers, with follow-up care provided
• Assist with phlebotomy as needed to ensure smooth patient flow
• Administer immunizations as needed
• Distribute, refill, discontinue medication for patients
• Complete Court Orders and all other ACS mandated paperwork
• Evaluate and treat ACS employees (ONLY on an emergent basis)
• Provide health education on topics including preventive medicine, chronic disease counseling, parenting, prenatal, nutrition, family planning, medication usage, stress management

• Current New York State Physician registration
• Board certified in General Pediatrics
• Minimum three years related experience in family, pediatric, adolescent urban populations
• Must pass all appropriate screenings to work in a secured setting with young people
• Spanish language proficiency preferred (Not required)

Hourly rate: $106.77
