THE OPPORTUNITY

This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at CUMC (Clinical Genetics/Medical Biochemical Genetics) is an exciting one. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, one of the nation’s foremost academic health science centers working together with one of the nation’s premier health systems, New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will provide the highest lever of care to pediatric and adult patients in genetics. You will share the responsibility of teaching residents and fellows with the other attending physicians. Specific clinical responsibilities will be determined by the division chief in discussions with you, but in general terms, you will be involved in providing rapid and timely management of patients, and dealing promptly with the calls and concerns of referring physicians.

This position specifically will focus on caring for metabolic patients in the clinic. This position is 100% clinical, and will consist of a combination of ambulatory sessions and inpatient consults.

Qualifications PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a MD or DO degree and an active NYS Medical License
  • Must be Board-certified or, for new graduates only, board-eligible in Genetics
  • Board certification/eligibility in Medical Biochemical desirable
  • Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines;
  • The ability to create a high-energy results-oriented work environment that encourages colleagues and staff to value each other’s contributions; and
  • The ability to share and celebrate success with colleagues and staff.
