The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai through its affiliation with New York City Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst is seeking a full-time Interventional Radiologist. Elmhurst Hospital Center is a 545-bed tertiary care facility and an ACS-verified level 1 trauma center in the ethnically diverse borough of Queens, NY. Our interventional service is powered by state-of-the-art imaging technology and cutting-edge equipment, highlighted by a brand-new Siemens biplane interventional suite supporting our comprehensive neurovascular and stroke initiatives, alongside 4 advanced CT scanners and high-field MRI.

To optimize workflow, procedure throughput, and clinical efficiency, the IR service is supported by a dedicated team of 4 Physician Assistants who assist with pre-procedural evaluations, procedural workflows, inpatient consults, and post-procedure patient management. This position offers an exceptional environment featuring low department turnover, manageable call expectations, robust clinical support, and long-term practice stability.

Key responsibilities and clinical support include-

  • Full-Spectrum Interventional Procedures: Perform a broad range image-guided procedures, including trauma interventions, embolizations, vascular access, drainages, biopsies, and hepatobiliary/genitourinary interventions utilizing our advanced biplane suite and multimodal imaging systems.
  • Dedicated PA

    Collaboration:

Direct and collaborate with 4 dedicated IR Physician Assistants who streamline daily operations, manage floor consults, aid with routine access and minor procedures, and coordinate peri-procedural patient care.
  • Multidisciplinary Leadership: Interface closely with Level 1 trauma surgery, critical care, oncology, vascular surgery, and emergency medicine teams to deliver timely, high-level patient care.
  • Diagnostic & Cross-Sectional Support: Provide diagnostic interpretation with an emphasis on cross-sectional studies (CT, US, MRI) and vascular imaging.
Schedule and practice culture-
  • Primary Shift: Monday through Friday daytime schedule.
  • Call Coverage: Highly manageable call commitment consisting of minimal weekend on-call coverage distributed across the year.
  • Moonlighting: Well compensated, optional evening & weekend internal moonlighting shifts.
  • Stability: Unmatched departmental retention, with attending radiologists frequently building decades-long careers at Elmhurst.

Candidates must have a MD, DO or equivalent from an accredited medical institution and be board certified or eligible in Interventional/Diagnostic Radiology with ACGME-accredited fellowship training in interventional radiology, valid New York State License, DEA and Medicaid number. Qualified candidates should have excellent clinical acumen, collegial communication style and a strong commitment to academic teaching and public hospital service. We offer a faculty appointment with the Icahn School of Medical at Mount Sinai commensurate with credentials, experience and qualifications.

We also offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package including CME. Base compensation is $516,000 excluding faculty practice distributions throughout the academic year.
