The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at NYU Langone Health is seeking an Associate Section Chief of Pulmonary Medicine to support the clinical, operational, quality, and strategic priorities of the Pulmonary Service Line at Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion.
Working in close partnership with the Section Chief, Division leadership, and hospital stakeholders, the Associate Section Chief will have a focus on inpatient pulmonary quality, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and performance improvement. The Associate Section Chief will serve as a key physician leader in advancing initiatives that improve the quality, efficiency, and consistency of inpatient pulmonary care. Additionally, the Associate Section Chief will support effective transitions of care from the inpatient to outpatient setting and help streamline the management of patients with chronic pulmonary diseases.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, data-driven physician leader with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, measurable improvement in quality and patient outcomes, operational performance, and continuous improvement.
Inpatient Pulmonary Leadership & Clinical Operations- Assist the Section Chief with the clinical, administrative, and operational leadership of Pulmonary Medicine at Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion, with a primary focus on inpatient pulmonary services.
- Serve as a physician leadership resource and provide coverage for the Section Chief, as needed, to support the coordination of patient care and administrative responsibilities across the pulmonary service line.
- Identify and lead initiatives to improve inpatient pulmonary care delivery, including clinical workflows, consultation practices, care coordination, and overall service efficiency.
- Lead initiatives and establish workflows for transitions of care from the inpatient to outpatient setting
- Partner with hospital medicine, nursing, respiratory therapy, care management, and other clinical stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve the quality and coordination of care for hospitalized patients with pulmonary disease.
- Support the development and implementation of new inpatient pulmonary programs, initiatives, and clinical pathways designed to improve outcomes, standardize care, and advance evidence-based pulmonary medicine.
- Provide physician leadership for quality, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives across inpatient Pulmonary Medicine at Tisch/Kimmel.
- Partner with division leadership on outpatient pulmonary quality and safety initiatives
- Establish, monitor, and evaluate relevant clinical quality, patient safety, operational, and patient experience metrics in partnership with Section, Division, and hospital leadership.
- Utilize institutional data, Epic reporting tools, quality dashboards, and other performance data to identify trends, clinical variation, opportunities for improvement, and areas requiring targeted intervention.
- Lead and support quality improvement initiatives focused on measurable improvements in clinical outcomes, patient safety, care delivery, operational efficiency, and patient experience.
- Assist in the review, investigation, and resolution of Patient Safety Intelligence (PSI) events, patient grievances, and quality-of-care concerns involving Pulmonary Medicine at Tisch/Kimmel and translate findings into actionable improvement initiatives, as appropriate.
