Schedule:

Part time, 2 days per week – one clinical shift and one administrative day

Position Summary

ModernMD is seeking an experienced part-time Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to lead clinical quality, provider performance, and clinical governance across our network of urgent care centers in Brooklyn and Queens. Working two days per week – one clinically and one administratively – the CMO will own the clinical standards of the organization, oversee our Medical Directors and provider team, and partner cross-functionally with Operations and Finance to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, patient-centered urgent care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical

  • Provide direct patient care one day per week at a ModernMD urgent care center.

Clinical Quality & Governance

  • Own clinical quality across the organization, including quality initiatives, chart and documentation oversight, and clinical standardization across all sites.
  • Establish and maintain clinical governance structures, including clinical policies, protocols, and standards of care.
  • Assist with clinical competency programs.

Provider Leadership & Accountability

  • Manage one to two Medical Directors responsible for day-to-day administrative clinical tasks (e.g., scheduling, provider questions).
  • Hold providers accountable to clinical, documentation, and performance standards, including regular provider evaluations.
  • Support provider development through coaching, feedback, and ongoing professional development.
  • Coordinate regular communication with providers.
  • Assist with new provider interviews and skills assessments.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Operations and Finance leadership to align clinical practice with operational efficiency, documentation accuracy, and financial performance.
  • Participate in management meetings as required (within the 8 hours per week associated with the administrative day).

The weekly administrative day may be performed from home or on-site in clinics, and encompasses the quality, governance, provider development, and cross-functional responsibilities described above.

Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree with an active, unrestricted New York State medical license.
  • Urgent care clinical experience.
  • Prior physician leadership or management experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
