Job Overview

The evolving Division of Interventional Psychiatry at Zucker Hillside Hospital/Northwell Health is seeking two (2) full‑time attending psychiatrists: one to serve as Associate Director and the other as a staff psychiatrist. Optimally, candidates for both positions will be board eligible or board certified in general psychiatry, with existing or developing expertise or interest in ECT, ketamine, and TMS. The Associate Director will have protected administrative time.

Graduating residents with an interest in ECT and other interventional modalities are encouraged to apply for the staff psychiatrist position.

Responsibilities

The Associate Director will work collaboratively with the Division Director to oversee, co‑direct, and manage all activities of a well‑established ECT service, while also participating in diverse aspects of other interventional psychiatry modalities. Clinical responsibilities include evaluation of inpatients and outpatients with complex psychiatric diagnoses, communication with referring providers, assessment of patient appropriateness for different interventions, formulation of treatment plans, and delivery of the assigned interventional treatment.

Key administrative responsibilities include supervising other interventional psychiatrists, maintaining schedules, involvement in performance improvement/quality initiatives, collaborating with referring providers, anesthesia colleagues, and nursing personnel, and ensuring compliance with departmental, hospital, system, and related regulatory policies. Teaching and supervision of trainees (residents, medical students and others) and collaboration in research initiatives represent additional academic opportunities. The staff psychiatrist will participate in evaluation of referred inpatients and outpatients, communication with referring providers, development of treatment plans, delivery of interventional treatments, and supervision of trainees.

Qualifications
  • MD/DO (or foreign equivalent) with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry
  • Eligibility for a New York State medical license
  • For the Associate Director, a minimum of two years of demonstrated experience and expertise in ECT service delivery is ideal
  • Experience with additional interventional psychiatry modalities is preferred
