The Nisga'a School District No. 92 is seeking an elementary teacher to work with students at Nathan Barton Elementary School. Reporting directly to the principal, this is a full-time, continuing position.
Located in the majestic Nass Valley in Northwestern British Columbia, the Nisga'a School District encompasses the traditional treaty territory of the Nisga'a Nation. Role OverviewThe teacher plans, prepares and engages students in lessons that guide and support their progression of learning, aligning their teaching with provincial curricula, using frequent & differentiated assessment and feedback to support growth. Fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues is also a benefit. The role includes participating in professional development and adhering to school policies to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for). Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
- Experience delivering an Intermediate learning program
- Working knowledge of the learning standards, curricular competencies, and core competencies within the BC Curriculum
- Respect and value diversity and are committed to reconciliation by meaningfully integrating Nisga'a and other Indigenous perspectives into their practice.
- Adapt their teaching to meet the needs of all learners and respond flexibly to the classroom environment.
- Actively participate in professional learning and apply new strategies to support learner success.
- Build strong relationships and work well with learners, families, and colleagues.
- Show a commitment to learner engagement and use assessment and data to support learning and cycles of improvement.
- Communicate effectively and work with others in a respectful and professional manner.
- Demonstrate social-emotional awareness and bring a trauma-informed lens to their work with learners and families.
- Support the goals of the school and district through a collaborative and positive approach.
- Use technology confidently to support instruction, assessment, communication, and reporting.

- Competitive salary ($69,758 - $114,685)
- Recruitment and Retention allowance for all teachers ($2,947 paid over 10 months of the school year, based on FTE).

Compensation is aligned with the BCTF salary grid for teaching staff, which ranges between $69,758 - $114,685 annually.
