Montefiore Einstein is the umbrella organization for Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Health System. In addition to its medical and doctoral program, Einstein offers master's degrees in clinical research methods and bioethics. Einstein receives for than $215 million in NIH funding each year and support NIH-designated research centers in cancer, aging, AIDS, intellectual and developmental disorders, clinical and translational research and type II diabetes.
Montefiore provides care to approximately three million people in communities across the Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and Hudson Valley. It comprises 10 hospitals and over 200 outpatient ambulatory care sites.
Albert Einstein College of Medicine seeks an experienced leader in student affairs and student life to serve as the Associate Dean for Students (ADS) to provide strategic leadership, administration and oversight for all student functions within the medical school. This role is responsible for fostering an inclusive, supportive environment that promotes academic success, professional development, and personal well‑being for medical students.
Collaboration across academic affairs, admissions, registrar, financial aid, wellness, and community engagement and outreach offices to create a supportive, and high‑performing learning environment is an important part of the role. The ADS serves as a key member of the medical education leadership team and ensures compliance with student‑related accreditation standards.
The Associate Dean for Students will be an accomplished leader, educator and trained physician. The ideal candidate will be an experienced administrative leader with a distinguished track record in student and/or academic affairs, innovation, and scholarship. Experience in training and mentoring the next generation of physicians and physicians‑scientists is highly desired.
Responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership and Administration- Provide direction and oversight for the Office of Students, Office of Student Life, and Learning Communities including managing staff, budget, and programs
- Develop and implement student and academic affairs policies, procedures, and infrastructure in alignment with the school’s mission, values, and accreditation standards
- Chair the Committee on Student Promotion and Professional Standards
- Serve on relevant educational committees to integrate student affairs with curricular and academic affairs
- Participate in institutional strategic planning and quality improvement activities related to student life, wellness, and professional development
- Act as primary entry point of support for students, addressing academic, personal, professional, and financial issues
- Counsel students on career planning
- Oversee the residency application process: writing or supervising MSPE (Medical Student Performance Evaluation), coordinating with the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), and advising on match strategies
- Monitor students’ well‑being and direct or refer to wellness, counseling, and health services as appropriate
- Ensure accommodations for students with disabilities; liaise with accessibility offices
