Sign Practice Host

About Us

At Lingvano, our mission is to break down language barriers and build bridges between Deaf and hearing people. We do so by creating easy-to-use sign language and Deaf culture lessons.

We are looking for signing practice hosts, to help us add live learning opportunities to our web and app-based learning experience. If you are passionate about people and communities, are well-organized, and love teaching others, we've got the job for you!

• Host live signing practices for small groups of learners, based on slides & instructions provided by Lingvano

• Motivate each learner who attends to actively participate during the signing practice

• Create an inclusive, welcoming, and fun learning experience

• Adjust your vocabulary and signing speed to meet learners at their skill levels

• Operate Zoom meetings, including technical details like facilitating break-out rooms

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English

• Identify as Deaf

• Experience in teaching ASL, particularly to beginners

• Ability to motivate and engage learners

• Patience

• Adaptability

• Reliability

• Independence

• Knowledge of how to operate Zoom

• Insights on Deaf community and culture and awareness of cultural sensitivities and nuances when it comes to Deafness

• You can contribute to building a successful brand with a clear social impact, and work alongside an international team of Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing employees

• Flexible working hours

• This is a freelance or contract position

• The gross minimum hourly rate is negotiable based on experience
