Affiliated with the American Montessori Society for 25 years, Love of Learning Montessori has offered traditional non‑denominational Montessori instruction in a wooded setting on Centerport Harbor. Serving 110 children, Love of Learning is devoted to developing students’ self‑motivation, independence, curiosity, and cooperation. Unique to our curriculum is the use of our 15‑acre outdoor wooded space, used both for instruction, recess, and family events.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Lead Montessori Teacher to lead our Montessori classroom with passion, creativity, and a deep commitment to fostering children’s holistic development. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Montessori principles and practices, excellent leadership skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment. Prospective candidates should possess a genuine passion for the outdoors and recognize the valuable opportunities it presents for enriching children’s learning experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Curriculum: Implement a comprehensive Montessori curriculum that fosters children’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Classroom Leadership: Lead and manage all aspects of the Montessori classroom, including planning, organizing, and facilitating daily activities and lessons with your team.
  • Montessori Materials: Prepare and maintain a rich and inviting environment with a wide range of Montessori materials and activities that cater to each child’s individual needs and interests.
  • Individualized Instruction: Provide individualized instruction and support to students based on their unique learning styles, interests, and developmental levels.
  • Observation and Assessment: Conduct ongoing observation and assessment of children’s progress and development, utilizing Montessori assessment tools and techniques.
  • Parent Communication: Establish and maintain open, positive, and effective communication with parents.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends and best practices in Montessori education through ongoing professional development opportunities and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Classroom Management: Create a well‑organized, safe, and respectful classroom environment that promotes independence, cooperation, and self‑discipline among students.
Qualifications
  • Montessori Certification: Completion of a recognized Montessori teacher training program (AMI, AMS, or equivalent) at the appropriate age level. Candidates without certification will be required to engage in classroom mentorship and commence their Montessori training before transitioning into the position of a full lead teacher.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a lead teacher in a classroom setting.

Hours

8:00 am - 4:15 pm

Immediate start with mentored training under the current lead teacher, with full co‑lead responsibilities beginning Fall 2026. For highly experienced candidates, mentoring requirements may be adjusted, with the possibility of stepping directly into the role in September; accommodations can be made for the right candidate.
