Essential Duties
The Assistant Community School Director will be expected to do the following:

- Develops, maintains and nurtures relationships with the school administration so as to operationalize the partnership
- Represent the school in community meetings and events including attending Bronx Service Cabinet meetings with the
- Supervise all DYCD COMPASS and SONYC after school programs and Expanded Learning Time opportunities on the
- Work collaboratively with Program Directors to design and implement programming that meets the educational, social
- Assist in the hiring, management, development, supervision and evaluation of full and part time staff
- Plan and implement regular staff meetings, ongoing professional development and orientations
- Supports the Community School Director in developing and implementing performance management systems to
- Organize and facilitate special events for staff, families and students, as well as student showcase events throughout the
- Assist in the oversight and management of all programs (health, dental, mental health, specialty services and projects)
- Contributes to the development and enhancement of parental involvement in the schools through the use of dedicated
- Develop communication systems to ensure effective communication about community school programs, services and
- Advocate for children, parents, families, and staff in order to access services
- Seek guidance and identify targeted resources for youth and family supports from appropriate school staff and
- Contribute to ensuring that all administrative and fiscal matters (hiring, payroll, fees, petty cash, budget, etc.) are carried
- In the absence of the Community School Director, supports in overseeing the management of all programs and activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required;
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Education or related field preferred - 3-5 years of experience working with young people (in-school and/or out-of-school settings)
- Exceptional leadership skills and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- 3- 5 years of supervisory experience
- Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred.
- A demonstrated goal-orientation and focus on outcomes and results
- A demonstrated ability to effectively work with students who have been traditionally under-served including English
system, children living below self-sufficiency, and children from single parent households
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work cooperatively with his/her school colleagues
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues
- A thorough understanding of youth development principles and practice
- A history of service to under-resourced communities
- Professionalism, sound judgment foresight and maturity
