The Center for Student Achievement Solutions (CSAS) is seeking a Literacy Coach Consultant to serve as a trusted partner and instructional coach for K–3 teachers and school leaders in New York City.
Our mission is to close opportunity gaps by delivering job-embedded coaching, structured literacy professional development, and Science of Reading-aligned training that transforms instruction and accelerates achievement.
Hours: Per Diem consultants are scheduled on an as-needed basis, paid hourly. Schedule is highly dependent on customer demand, professional development is usually scheduled with partners during normal school hours.

Your RoleAs a Literacy Coach Consultant, you will deliver onsite, job-embedded coaching, model Science of Reading-aligned instruction, and support teachers with phonics and structured literacy programs.
Responsibilities- Deliver job-embedded coaching to K–5 teachers, including co-planning, modeling, side-by-side coaching, and debriefing.
- Support teachers in implementing core phonics and structured literacy programs such as UFLI, Heggerty, Orton-Gillingham, Bridge the Gap, Phonics for Reading, REWARDS and HMH.
- Use Acadience, mCLASS, and classroom assessments to drive instructional planning, group students, and accelerate reading growth.
- Provide feedback and professional learning aligned to the Science of Reading and district literacy priorities.
- Master’s degree in Reading, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
- 3+ years of K–5 classroom teaching experience with a strong record of student literacy growth.
- 2+ years of literacy coaching and/or professional development delivery.
- Residence in New York City (NYC) and must be willing to travel to all 5 boroughs for onsite school support.
- Deep knowledge of the Science of Reading, structured literacy, and foundational reading skills.
- Strong ability to facilitate adult learning, lead coaching cycles, and provide actionable feedback.
- Experience supporting ELLs/MLLs, students with disabilities, and struggling readers.
