Middle School Teaching Fellow; PA II

The Teaching Fellow program is a unique opportunity for students currently enrolled in a graduate program to obtain a New York State Teaching Certification. The Teaching Fellow will be paired with an experienced teacher, receive professional development from academic coaches, and enhance teaching skills while building meaningful relationships with students and families. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for the mission of HCZ Promise Academy, an understanding and respect for the culture of all residents of Harlem, and a desire to work in a school setting that fosters a love for children.

• Bachelor's degree
• Enrolled in a Master's degree and actively pursuing New York State teaching certification

• Design and implement dynamic, standards-aligned lesson plans that inspire curiosity and foster mastery of grade-level content
• Assess student progress using a variety of methods—exams, projects, and written work—to personalize instruction and ensure continuous growth
• Establish and maintain high academic and behavioral standards, motivating all students to achieve their best
• Utilize diverse teaching strategies, including direct instruction, hands‑on projects, and group activities, to engage and challenge students
• Collaborate with teaching assistants and fellow educators to meet individual student needs and create a supportive learning community
• Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a culture of trust, communication, and academic success

• Monday – Friday, 7:40 am – 4:00 pm
• 10‑month school year with optional summer opportunities for additional pay

Harlem Children’s Zone provided pay range: $62,000.00 /yr – $62,000.00 /yr. The Teaching Fellow salary is $62,000.
