Background
Cathedral High School is an all-girls Catholic college preparatory high school in Manhattan serving 190 young women, most of whom represent economically disadvantaged populations. Our students come from all over New York City’s boroughs and represent many nationalities. Most of our students are first or second-generation Americans. 50% of our students will be the first in their families to graduate from college, and 14% of our students will be the first in their families to graduate from high school.
All student tuition is partly subsidized, with 86% of students receiving scholarship and financial aid grant awards. 75% of our students profess the Catholic faith.
The Lacrosse Coach will coach lacrosse, support player development, while intentionally integrating Cathedral High School’s core values of respect, hard work, service, faith, and integrity into the program. The coach will promote a positive learning environment and emphasize the importance of athletic discipline, academic achievement, and teamwork while modeling a high level of ethics and professionalism.
- Respects his/her commitment to the school, plans and leads all scheduled practices (2‑5 practices per week), and coaches all games and tournaments.
- Responsible for following the policies and procedures as defined in the Cathedral employee handbook.
- Plans, conducts, supervises, and instructs effective lacrosse practices and activities; and maintains accurate equipment and inventory.
- Works effectively with the Athletic Director in carrying out his/her responsibilities throughout the season.
- Demonstrates superior organizational and motivational abilities, as well as the ability to provide clear instructions.
- Collaborates with the Athletic Director to provide a positive experience for all student‑athletes and foster team bonding.
- A strong understanding of the fundamentals of lacrosse.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience mentoring/coaching lacrosse in any age group level (can include competing in collegiate or professional level).
- CPR/First Aid Certification; if not possessed, CHS Athletic Director will support successful candidate in getting certified.
- Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork.
- An understanding of Catholic education and culture.
March 7th – May 1st or last game played. Role is compensated with a stipend of $2,000 to be paid over two installments.
