Children & Family Ministry Director – Pittsford Community Church

Pittsford Community Church is seeking a Children & Family Ministry Director whose leadership and children’s ministry vision align with the church’s mission and exemplify the teachings of Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate will demonstrate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. This role supports families in their spiritual growth and builds a team of volunteers to deliver effective ministry for children from birth through 5th grade.

The candidate must love serving the Lord, be patient and detail-oriented, be compassionate, enjoy working with children, be warm and approachable, communicate clearly, and demonstrate strong leadership.

• Leads and oversees ministry to nursery, preschool, elementary-age children, and their families.
• Oversee Sunday morning program, mid-week discipleship program, other family or children’s events, and mission opportunities for children and their families.
• Strives to build quality relationships with volunteers, parents, and children.
• Recruit and develop volunteer leaders who support and assist the Director in completing ministry programs.
• Partner with pastoral staff to plan and prepare a creative program that supports the church’s vision and is feasible within the Children & Family ministry budget.
• Partner with parents in a way that supports and equips them in their role as their children’s primary spiritual leaders.
• Create and implement a strategic plan for the Children & Family ministries that incorporates the whole counsel of God’s Word and addresses the spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental needs of the children.
• Participate in all staff meetings and retreats.
• Participate in ongoing education and training opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the pastoral team.

• Exhibits a strong walk with God and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Expresses a calling to children and family ministries.
• Experience in ministering to children and families, including leading and training volunteer leaders, developing programs, and managing budgets.
• Develops a vision for children and family ministries and can translate it into a strategic implementation plan.
• Agrees with and supports our statements of faith and values.
• Holds a commitment to the vision and mission of the church.
• Demonstrates skill in preparing and delivering clear and concise written and spoken messages, letters, emails, and other forms of communication.
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills, including conflict management.
• Maintains confidentiality where appropriate.
• Stays informed about current trends in children and family ministries and, with discernment, incorporates them as appropriate.
• Holds a bachelor’s degree in a related field, with an education or ministry degree preferred; other experiences will also be considered.
• Practices a lifestyle consistent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Timothy 3:1–13; 2 Timothy 2; Titus 1:5–9).
