Overview

Landscape gardener/Horticulture trainer (Full training provided) – York. Salary: 33,365 + Teacher Pension Scheme + 43 Days Holiday + Christmas Shutdown + Outstanding Facilities + Career Progression. This is a Monday to Friday role at a leading land-based college, combining practical teaching with course leadership while shaping the next generation of horticulture professionals. Based at the York campus, the role focuses on delivering and managing high-quality horticulture and landscaping programmes.

The role sits within the Horticulture department, delivering and leading courses that reflect real-world industry practice. It involves developing engaging curriculum content and supporting learners to progress into employment or further study.

This position would suit someone from a hard landscaping or professional gardening background, ideally with experience in paving, wall construction, fencing, hedge trimming, planting schemes and garden design, who is keen to pass on skills within a supportive education environment. Full teacher training and ongoing development are provided.

Location:

York campus

• Teaching practical and theory horticulture/landscaping sessions
• Leading and managing agreed horticulture courses
• Developing industry-relevant curriculum and resources
• Supporting, mentoring and tracking student progress
• Working closely with the Curriculum Team Leader and department staff
• Liaising with employers to keep courses aligned with industry needs
• Full-time, permanent position based at the York campus

• Comes from a landscaping or horticulture background
• Strong practical experience in hard landscaping (paving, walling, fencing, garden build projects)
• Knowledge of garden design, planting and maintenance
• Passionate about developing others and sharing industry skills
• Open to moving into teaching and course leadership (training provided)
