Program/Extension Aide IV – Farm to School Program Coordinator

We are part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE), engaging across disciplines to address challenges such as food security, climate resilience, and community development. The Harvest New York team focuses on workforce development and business expansion projects that increase profitability and investment in key sectors of New York’s agriculture industry.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Farm to School Program Coordinator will play a key supportive role in advancing statewide efforts to connect New York farms with schools. Working closely with the Program Director, other staff, and partners, this position will assist with the coordination, communication, and implementation of core Farm to School initiatives, including programs and resources led by the Cornell Farm to School Team.
The Coordinator will help sustain relationships among schools, producers, and partners; support communication and resource‑sharing activities; assist in the management of social media and outreach; and assist with events that benefit stakeholders and foster the continued growth of the Farm to School program.
This position is full‑time (39 hours per week) and will be located in a CCE Office. It is a one‑year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance. Moderate travel (about 25%) will be required throughout New York State. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke, or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time. You may work remotely within New York State three days a week;
an on‑site presence in the CCE Office is required three days a week.
- Associate’s degree in agriculture, food studies, nutrition, or closely related field, and 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with a broad range of people.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have proficiency in Windows‑based software, including the internet, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience managing social media platforms.
- Able to work quickly and efficiently under general supervision.
- Knowledge of balancing conflicting priorities, making informed choices, and using sound judgment in completing urgent tasks.
- Experience that demonstrates creativity, reasoning, and solution‑finding techniques.
- Will be expected to work flexible hours, occasional evenings, and weekends as job functions require.
- Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the position, and have reliable transportation as well as have and maintain a valid and unrestricted New York State driver’s license.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
