Position Summary
Temporary leave replacement; position may be ended at any time.
The Training Specialist will research, design, facilitate, and evaluate employee learning and development programs to support organizational goals, utilizing a variety of learning models and modalities. The role provides a full range of in‑house training services to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Duties- Execute the migration of Learning Management System (LMS) courses from the legacy Health Stream platform to the new Oracle Fusion Cloud Learning, Development, and Redwood Experience environment.
- Conduct detailed reviews of each transferred course to optimize instructional design and ensure maximum learning speed using Oracle Fusion Cloud Learning LMS utilities.
- Research and design comprehensive professional development courses that align with SBUH's strategic goals and organizational objectives.
- Provide administrative and technical support for the LMS, including data entry, user registration, and session scheduling to ensure seamless program delivery.
- Analyze complex data sets to formulate evidence‑based recommendations for program objectives and curriculum content.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing training modules and implement necessary curriculum changes to maintain high educational standards.
- Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience developing and/or delivering supervisory/management educational programs, or Associate's degree with at least 5 years of experience.
- Proficiency in PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with e‑learning software (e.g., Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate).
- Foundational understanding of how to structure educational content and willingness to learn specific e‑learning tools.
- Service‑oriented, strong team player with clear and empathetic communication skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Education, or Human Resources.
- Prior experience with LMS or cloud‑based HR transitions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, Health Stream).
- Experience in training, teaching, or professional presentations in a professional setting.
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment or coordinating large‑scale orientation programs.

Posting OverviewPosition will remain posted until filled or for a maximum of 90 days. Initial review of applicants occurs two weeks from the posting date. - Complete pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
- Complete electronic reference check with at least three professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen.
- Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
Failure to comply with the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer. The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for the examination.

CompensationAnticipated salary range: $80,000 – $97,000 per year. The specific offer will be based on the candidate’s validated experience. Some positions offer annual supplemental pay, such as $4,000 location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full‑time positions.
