About AISES

The Advancing Indigenous Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is a national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers. To this end, AISES provides scholarships and internships, workforce development and career resources, national and regional conferences, leadership development, and other STEM focused programming to Indigenous students and professionals.

Position Summary

The AUNTIE Tech Collective is a multigenerational initiative dedicated to supporting Indigenous womxn, girls, non-binary, & Two-Spirit people in technology. Anchored in community and culture, AUNTIE builds belonging across every stage of an Indigenous womxn, girls, non-binary, & Two-Spirit people tech journey, from early curiosity to established career. The program weaves together three connected waterways:

  • AUNTIE Tech Club (Middle School & High School):
    Hands-on in-person tech learning, including coding, robotics, and digital literacy, delivered through community-supported gatherings, culturally grounded activities, and exposure to Indigenous mentors in the industry. Resources and support for caregivers and educators.
  • Future AUNTIES (Post-Secondary):
    Community and empowerment through mentorship, networking, career readiness, and technical competency building for college students pursuing tech degrees.
  • THE AUNTIES (Professional): A growing network of Indigenous womxn, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people in tech committed to leadership, mentorship, and creating inclusive workplaces. This phase provides opportunities for giving back as well as personal and professional growth.

The AISES AUNTIE Program Officer is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Future AUNTIE and AUNTIE waterways. This position is offered through the end of the grant project period in 2027 with the possibility of extension based on funding availability.

Reporting Relationship

The Part-Time Temporary AUNTIE Program Officer reports to the Managing Director of Programs. This position does not supervise other sta.

Duties and Responsibilities Program Development & Implementation
  • Develop and implement Future AUNTIES programming for postsecondary students and THE AUNTIES programming for professionals.
  • Support networking and career readiness program development.
  • Coordinate virtual technical competency building initiatives and workshops.
  • Organize leadership development opportunities for college students.
  • Recruit and engage post-secondary and professional participants.
  • Manage participant tracking and progress monitoring for Future AUNTIES and AUNTIES.
  • Coordinate college student community building activities and leadership development programming for professionals.
  • Facilitate and maintain Future AUNTIES and AUNTIES Slack community and participant lists.
  • Initiate and process payments, honorarium forms, and purchases for Future AUNTIES and AUNTIES, in coordination with AISES policies, systems, and approval processes.
  • Connect to academic institutions and university partners.
  • Connect to corporate partners and industry leaders.
  • Monitor budget for Future AUNTIES and AUNTIES activities.
  • Build and nurture a network of Indigenous womxn, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people in tech.
  • Create opportunities for professionals to give back to the AUNTIE Tech Collective community.
  • Support collection and maintenance of impact metrics, participant stories, and outcome data to support research and evaluation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Future AUNTIE and AUNTIE participants.
General Program Support
  • Assist with budgeting, grant management, strategic planning, and program development.
  • Create resources, including but not limited to curriculum, handbooks, webinars, videos, and presentations.
  • Present at events, conferences, and webinars on behalf of AUNTIE Tech Collective to diverse stakeholders.
  • Partner with Native communities throughout program development and execution, including developing the objectives, content, exercises, course materials, and evaluations to create impactful activities.
  • Conduct and track Native community recruitment as subject matter experts for programming.
  • Meet with stakeholders including students, professionals, community members, faculty, external entity business leaders, and AISES senior leadership to plan the scope of projects assigned.
  • Manage timelines, communication, and logistics for successful execution of programs.
  • Effectively communicate annual goals and objectives to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
