Instructor or Assistant Professor - Computer Information Systems (Business & Information Systems)

The Business and Information Systems Department of Bronx Community College is seeking a full-time Computer Information Systems faculty to teach a broad range including courses in computer applications (MS Office Suite), programming (Python, Java, Visual Basic), web development, databases (SQL, MS Access), data analytics and information systems applications, operating systems (Linux), and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision).

The successful candidate will: perform teaching and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise; share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory and other functions; advise and mentor students; engage in professional activities and grant writing; and demonstrate collegiality and ability to work with others.

Participation in curriculum development and assessment activities, and program growth initiatives, as well as other college initiatives, is expected. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to effective teaching for a diverse, urban, and first‑generation student population.

QUALIFICATIONS For Instructor:

Master's degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent and active progress towards a Doctorate or equivalent required. Persons appointed in the instructor title are eligible for five (5) annual consecutive appointments only. Appointments to a professional title subsequent to service as an instructor will only be considered if the candidate has obtained the qualifications for professorial ranks as stated below.

For Assistant Professor:

Ph.D. degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent.

For all applicants:

Must possess strong pedagogical skills along with the ability to teach successfully. A record of scholarly and professional achievement is preferred. Must be able to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Minimum of 1‑2 years of college teaching or equivalent professional training experience required. Experience utilizing instructional technology and web applications, including learning management systems, coding platforms, or AI‑enabled instructional tools, is strongly preferred.

Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required.

Instructor: $52,612 - $79,061; commensurate with experience and qualifications

Assistant Professor: $57,252 - $98,995; commensurate with experience qualifications
