Positions Report to: High School Director of Athletics
Start Date: Immediate
End Date: June 2026
Hours: 3:30 – 5:00pm weekly + additional hours necessary for games
Compensation: Stipend of $4,000 in total

The Work and Why It MattersThe role of the Track & Field Coach is to coach, develop character, and provide direction to student athletes so that they achieve a high level of skill while cultivating discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The role requires thoughtful, respectful interaction with student athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents, and the community. Positive communication, organizational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements.

- You have experience with, or are excited about researching best practices in anti-racist pedagogy
- You enjoy and/or have experience working with diverse populations of students and communities
- You believe that every student can and will learn when provided with a quality education
- You have demonstrated success in fostering athletic proficiency for students with historically inequitable access
- You are willing to be flexible in your role and adapt to school and student needs
- You are committed to continuous improvement through professional development
- Consult with the Athletic Director regarding off-season training programs, scheduling camps/practices, uniform fitting, and parent meetings
- Work directly with the school athletic trainer to report injuries, teach precautions, and ensure safety
- Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct toward all stakeholders
- You have an Associate’s degree or higher (preferred)
- You have 2–4 years of experience coaching Track & Field at the high school level (head coaching experience preferred)
- You possess effective coaching techniques and knowledge of the sport’s rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques
- You can establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administration, opponents, staff, parents, and students
- You have CPR and AED certification
- Plan, organize, advertise, and conduct tryouts for the Track & Field program; communicate final selections to the Athletic Department and participants
- Create a safe environment conducive to learning and ensure team rules and eligibility requirements are clearly communicated and followed
- Model and embody core values for students to practice
- Set clear expectations and routines to maintain a purposeful, supportive, and enjoyable learning environment
- Foster a team culture with restorative practices to navigate challenges
- Demonstrate a Team First mindset and contribute to the community, while pursuing professional growth and engaging families and community members
