Become a dance and creative movement after school coach and help us change the way kids play! At Kids in the Game, you’ll be part of a network of 150+ coaches who are working with kids from early childhood and up, providing sports and skill development, and making a positive impact in their lives.

Kids in the Game sport and enrichment-based programs can be found in schools and communities across New York City, serving thousands of children every year. We are hiring part-time dance and creative movement specialists with training to teach classes in our after school enrichment programs. As a valued member of Kids in the Game, you will be able to help us follow and model our 5 organizational core values through action:

The After School Dance Specialist is responsible for planning and leading engaging, age-appropriate dance programming for students in grades Pre‑K through middle school. This role promotes creativity, physical activity, and self‑expression while building confidence, teamwork, and a love for movement. The Dance Specialist serves as a positive role model, creating an inclusive and supportive environment that reflects the organization’s core values of positivity, empathy, commitment, ambition, and inclusivity.

Depending on your availability and skill set, you can expect to work between 10 to 15 hours per week, earning a competitive hourly rate. Our coaches and specialists typically work in various schools throughout the weeks.

As an Enrichment Coach for Dance & Creative Movement, your key responsibilities will include

Programming & Facilitation

• Develop and implement structured dance lessons across multiple dance styles.
• Create progressive lesson plans that build skills, creativity, and confidence over time.
• Adapt programming to meet varying age groups, ability levels, and student needs.
• Organize informal performances or showcases when applicable.
• Commit to partaking in all enrichment coach trainings throughout the school year
  • Virtual and in person

Engagement & Relationship Building

• Foster a fun, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students.
• Build positive relationships with students while encouraging teamwork, self‑expression, and respect.
• Model and promote positive character development and healthy peer interactions.
• Use positive reinforcement and positive language at all times when engaging with the students.

Safety & Supervision

• Actively supervise all students to ensure a safe and structured environment.
• Incorporate appropriate warm‑ups, cool‑downs, and injury‑prevention techniques.
• Respond appropriately to injuries, behavioral challenges, or conflicts, following organizational policies.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with site leadership and other program staff to align programming with overall site goals.
• Communicate effectively with coaches and leaders regarding student participation and progress.
