This is for an Anticipated Summer Work position and is not considered a BOCES ESY position.

LOCATION OF POSITION:
Fairport NY 14450;
Transition and Employment Program

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
July 9, 2026 August 19, 2026. Hours TBD by location. Pre and post summer trainings TBD.

Mandatory Summer Set-Up Meetings:

June 2nd = Transition/Employment

June 3rd = O'Connor Academy, eStart, Creekside (BPA Unit + TES Staff)

June 10th = Creekside (BUP Unit), Bird/Morgan

SALARY RANGE: $32.33 - $52.43 per hour (or higher pending contract negotiations) or your 2026-27 rate in this title for current Monroe One Boces staff

* Actual Salary Is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Contract.

DUTIES:

1. Orientation of students, parents, and school personnel to the Transition process and issues related to Transition planning.

2. Liaison and coordination with ACCES-VR, OPWDD and other adult community agencies and organizations.

3. Technical assistance on Transition related issues to district school personnel and the committee on Special Education.

4. Recommend transition related activities that assist in the development of student post-secondary goals.

5. Administer career interest surveys to students; assist students in college search process.

6. Prepare and deliver presentations on the Transition process to various community groups.

7. Collaborate with High School and Transition Age Classroom teachers to provide meaningful instruction on Transition Related topics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Civil Service eligibility as a Student Transition Specialist:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree plus four (4) years paid full time or its part time equivalent experience in counseling, special education, or other occupation that involved working with individuals with special needs
* OR,

B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years experience as described in (A) above; OR,

C. Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

* Individuals with special needs is defined as individuals with a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities. Life activities include functions such as caring for oneself, performing manual tasks, walking, sitting, standing, lifting, reaching, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, and working.

2. Knowledge of community resources.

3. Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and school personnel.

4. Experience working with students with disabilities ages 16-21 years.

5. Experience in transition of students with disabilities from school to

post-school experiences.

7. Possess a valid Driver's License.

8. Physically able to perform essential functions of position with or without reasonable accommodation.
