DESCRIPTION:

** Northeastern students admitted to New York City Scholars will begin their journey at Marymount Manhattan College (MMC) campus as a cohort of fellow first-year Northeastern students. Located in a vibrant and dynamic neighborhood in NYC, just moments from landmarks such as Central Park and the Guggenheim Museum, NYC Scholars have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural and academic heart of New York City.

During their first year, students will have access to the variety of cultural institutions, artistic venues, and professional opportunities that define New York City's global influence. In their second year and beyond, NYC Scholars will study on Northeastern's Boston campus and have the opportunity to continue to explore global program offerings.

* JOB SUMMARY:

** Balancing responsibilities between Northeastern and Marymount Manhattan, the Student Success Manager (SSM) ensures students have a cohesive, supportive, and culturally enriching experience, all while maintaining open lines of communication and upholding the standards and values of both educational institutions. The SSM works collaboratively to support the safety and wellbeing of students and contribute to the development and overall success of the students and the program.

Responsibilities may vary based on the needs of students, internal and external partners, and Student Life initiatives.

The Student Success Manager (SSM) role is a temporary (July to May) full-time, benefits-eligible position requiring the person in this role to live on-site with students for the duration of the program. Private housing is provided while on site. Additionally, the SSM will be expected to attend approximately three weeks of in-person training on campus in Boston in July; housing and travel will be covered by Northeastern for this period.

The SSM directly supervises a full-time team of up to 12 Student Success Coordinators, who also live on site. Non-traditional work hours will be required throughout the employment term.

* RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

**** Summer**:
* Attend a mandatory 2-3 week training program on campus in Boston, preceded and followed by online training prior to departure to site
* Lead or co-lead small group sessions for assigned site team (with guidance).
* Participate in pre-departure student orientation activities.
* Participate in evening and weekend social activities.
** Fall****, Winter, and Spring
*** Live on-site at the student residence, and act as the primary point of contact for students and staff while overseeing safety and security during emergencies and other student incidents. Serve as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation.
* Supervise, support, and evaluate a team of Student Success Coordinators in all aspects of their professional development and needs.
* Serve as a liaison with staff and faculty from the host institution, and Student Life and Global Network First Year Programs (GNFYP) staff through regular meetings and oral and/or written reports. Serve as the point of contact for student conduct, health, and wellness concerns.
* Work in partnership with the GNFYP site lead, managing and tracking quality and diversity of academic, social, and cultural programs.
* Encourage student academic success, respond to student concerns, and connect students to New York and Boston-based academic, medical, and mental health resources.
* Oversee student conduct process.
* Work non-traditional hours as needed, including evenings and weekends, supporting student programming and attending to the safety and wellbeing of students.
* Work with both institutions to co-design orientation, cultural immersion, and academic support programs that incorporate Northeastern’s values with the host institution’s resources and expertise.
