Responsibilities:
The Impact Entrepreneurship Initiative ( IEI ) at The New School seeks a highly organized, collaborative, and proactive Student Assistant to support content development, course operations, and program coordination. IEI supports early-stage entrepreneurial leaders in developing the mindsets, skills, and sense of purpose needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Its mission is to promote a shift from extractive to generative ecosystems of value by advancing democratic principles, inclusive design practices, and entrepreneurial approaches grounded in care, equity, and real-world impact.
The Student Assistant Specialist will work with IEI Program Directors, faculty, staff, and students on a wide range of operational and administrative tasks, including but not limited to the fellowship admission process, communications, and event planning. Responsibilities will vary throughout the academic year based on program cycles (Fellowship recruitment, course delivery, events, etc.), offering meaningful exposure to multiple facets of program operations.
This role is ideal for a student who enjoys working behind the scenes to keep programs running smoothly, communicating clearly with diverse stakeholders, and contributing to the infrastructure that supports student learning and engagement across IEI’s Fellowship, courses, and public programming. Candidates should be prepared to work up to 10 hours per week, both on campus and remotely. This position reports to the Program Co-Directors for IEI .
Responsibilities
- Support the Fellowship application process, including organizing submissions and materials.
- Compile applications into structured review formats (Google forms, PDF packets, You Tube video links, scoring spreadsheets, etc.).
- Liaise with university colleagues, faculty reviewers, and prospective students regarding the program application, acceptance, and enrollment processes.
- Support promotion and outreach for events, Fellowship recruitment, ecosystem mixers, and public programs.
- Encourage connection within the cohort by sharing relevant tools, resources, and updates.
- Draft and send course or program-related communications as directed (event reminders, expectations, updates).
- Support coordination with Admissions, program directors, and external partners to promote IEI opportunities.
- Support management of the IEI email inbox, including drafting responses and maintaining an evolving FAQ resource.
- Assist with updates to the IEI website and blog.
- Assist in maintaining and updating course listings for the IEI graduate minor.
- Support and create event materials, presentation decks, marketing, development materials as needed
- Document program management best practices in the IEI Playbook
- Attend weekly IEI program planning meetings via Zoom
