Program Overview

Education & Youth Development Programs: CAMBA operates more than 20 after school and summer camp programs in New York City, serving over 10,000 elementary and middle school children. This programming includes supper and socialization; homework help; science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); literacy enrichment; recreation activities; conflict resolution; clubs; and community circle. Programs operate during the school year, in the summer, and on most school holidays.

What The Youth Facilitator I Does

The Group Leader/Youth Facilitator I supports the daily operations of the Community Resource Room by helping residents use computers, navigate online tools, and participate in basic digital activities. This is an entry-level role focused on supervision, customer service, and simple facilitation. The Group Leader helps keep the CRR organized, safe, and welcoming while assisting visitors with everyday digital tasks and workshops.

  • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy policies to protect the confidentiality of individual health information.
  • Greet residents and monitor the CRR during open hours.
  • Help participants use computers, printers, and internet-based tools.
  • Assist with simple tasks such as email setup, online forms, job searches, or accessing benefits websites.
  • Provide guidance on basic digital literacy activities (typing, using browsers, saving documents, navigating common websites).
  • Ensure all devices are handled safely and stored properly when the CRR is closed.
  • Follow procedures for locking up equipment such as computers, podcast tools, tablets, and printers.
  • Report any technical issues promptly.
  • Support small group activities or workshops led by CRR staff.
  • Encourage community members to participate in workshops and digital-learning activities.
  • Record daily sign-ins and usage data.
  • Track participation in activities and assist with simple reporting tasks.
  • Communicate equipment or space issues to supervisors.
  • Facilitate basic CRR activities such as resume support sessions, introductory technology tutorials, or guided digital exercises.
  • Lead simple digital-learning group activities that build comfort with everyday technology.
  • Help visitors use podcast equipment safely and appropriately, including microphones, recording tablets, and the audio mixer.
  • Provide basic guidance on how to start and stop recordings and organize files for simple podcast or video projects.
  • Offer patient, clear support to residents with varying levels of comfort with technology.
  • Maintain a clean, organized environment and follow opening/closing procedures.
  • Tasks may be modified, expanded, and/or assigned over time to meet program needs.
Minimum Education /Experience Required

High School Diploma and one year of experience working in community-based programming

Other Requirements
  • Comfortable using computers, web browsers, email, and common online tools.
  • Ability to help others understand basic digital tasks.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
