Academic Program Specialist - Audiology POSITION DETAILS

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for an Academic Program Specialist for the Doctoral Program in Audiology (Au.D.) in the Department of Communication Arts, Sciences, and Disorders (CASD).

The Academic Program Specialist will work predominately at the Brooklyn College campus in Brooklyn and is expected to work some days during the year at the Graduate Center in Manhattan. Reporting to the Chair and Program Director (PD), the Academic Program Specialist coordinates the program's administrative tasks and serves as a resource for applicants, students, and faculty on program procedures and policies of the Doctoral Program.

The doctoral program in Audiology leads students to the Au.D. degree, and there is a consortium model between Brooklyn College, the Graduate Center and Hunter College. The CUNY Au.D degree will be awarded by the Graduate Center through 2028 and by Brooklyn College thereafter. The Audiology program prepares audiologists qualified for New York State licensure and national certification, who can provide comprehensive services to all individuals with hearing loss.

Courses are offered at each of the campuses and clinical internship practical will continue to take place at the Speech and Hearing Centers located on the Brooklyn and Hunter College campuses and in the Audiology Suite located at the Graduate Center campus.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Academic Program Specialist’s typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage office functions such as communications/customer service, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and information distribution. Administer both on-campus and remote needs for related program students, staff, faculty, alumni, and members of the public on a variety of tasks including telepractice, local and remote data management, mailing, and web-based meetings and other platforms.

  • Responsible for budget/transaction processing, office supply ordering and track equipment for the program. Document administrative processes.

  • Monitor and update the AuD program’s website and Brightspace related learning management systems (LMS) sites in consultation with the PD and/or relevant faculty.

  • Serve as liaison to various campus offices including admissions, financial aid, and fiscal offices, as well as to offices on peer campuses. Manage office records and organize information flow to and from the campus-based programs.

  • Maintain adjunct faculty personnel files, including certification documentation, new appointments, rank changes, and teaching and student evaluations. Maintain and update databases and digital files for faculty, students, and committees.

  • Support the planning, coordinating, and managing workshops, conferences, colloquia, and speakers' programs. Schedule meetings, including logistics; arrange meeting space, audiovisual equipment, catering, and related correspondence.

  • Assist with accreditation and reaccreditation reporting and visits.

  • Collect syllabi from all AuD faculty members and review to ensure compliance with Brooklyn College standards and post to the LMS and/or other archival platforms. Support faculty in ensuring proper posting of textbooks and related information such as posting of grades, Verification of enrollment, etc.

  • Assist the PD/APD or designee and related program personnel in preparing and maintaining program documents, including handbooks, recruitment materials and materials for review by program and college committees; liaise with committee point persons; maintain databases to track affiliation expirations and related deadlines.

  • Assist with the orientation and registration process for incoming and continuing students and support alumni engagement.

  • Draft confidential reports, make administrative decisions regarding the compilation, storage, and scheduled destruction of program-related student, personnel, client, and research records, and manage faculty, staff, student, alumni, and client/patient data with confidentiality.
